I always like to use her life as the bridge from Black History Month to Women's History Month acknowledging the first American woman millionaire was a Black woman who came from the cotton fields.
I am proud of our growth. I stand tall as an African American woman, granddaughter of share choppers from the cotton fields, still here, resilient. Thriving as roses amongst thorns. I honor my History, my heritage and incredible now.
I salute Black History Month and welcome Women's History Month.
